And now, Admonition, brought to you by the Collierville Church of Christ.

There’s a lesson in the Old Testament about following the influence of a person to do evil. Ishbosheth is one who is one of the sons of Saul, and at age forty he will become king over Israel when Saul dies. But how did he become king?

He became king because one of the commanders of Saul’s army, Abner, made him king. He followed Abner’s influence to do something that was wrong. Abner had no authority to make him king, and he’ll reign as king over Israel for two years and then he’ll be murdered.

He lost his life because he followed someone in their evil deeds.
