No. All of the things that you have going on in your life that you are doing well, you are staying healthy and that all is well with your family. We are in first Kings chapter 18 this evening. First Kings chapter 18, uh, for our members and for anyone else who’s following along with us. There are questions, uh, in a PDF that are available on our website. Elijah is the one who was prophesied, would come before the Messiah came to the earth. And as a result of all of those things, Alijah is seen very prominently both in old and new Testament …

So she comes to the throne in the Northern kingdom of Israel and somehow Bay HSA blocks the pathway, the Kings highway of people coming in to Jerusalem and people coming in to Judah, they can now no longer go that trade route and go through to Judah. Bayshore has closed off that entrance. And King EISA sent them to Ben. If you look at first Kings chapter 13, verses two and three, we read, then he cried out against the Alder by the word of the Lord and said, Oh, altar altar thus says the Lord. Behold a child, Josiah by name shall be born to the house of David and on you. He shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you and men’s bones shall be burned on you. And he gave us in the same thing. This is the sign which the Lord has spoken. Surely the altar shall split apart and the ashes on it shall be poured out. And then also verse five, the altar also was split apart and the ashes poured out from the alter according to the sign, which the men and of God had given word of the Lord. …

That you be perfectly joined together. Additionally, in the same judgment, if Paul’s plea to the troubled Corinthian church was realistic, then it must also have been actually possible. Why would he have made such a plate if it were not both realistic and possible in spite of their differences? Paul wanted the Corinthian questions to be United, but not in some sort of all inclusive big tent. Ignore your differences kind of way, but in these key areas, what they spoke in the first place must be in agreement, the phrase to speak, the same thing had political overtones of warring factions that came to a reconciliation in spite of their warring factions in the church at Corinth, namely differences about the Lord’s supper, about the resurrection, about moral issues, and more in spite of that, Paul wanted them to be on the same page doctrine light. Next, Paul decried their divisions later in the first chapter, it appears that they chose sides, each following various leaders and in the process splintered the precious unity that God and his spirit desire. Ephesians four one teaches that we must all endeavor to keep the unity of the spirit. In the bond of peace that demands a constant focus on oneness and not on division. The term for division by the way is schismatic split division, the word pictures, the destruction of unity through force and was used of a tear and a garment or political factions engaged in a struggle …

TEXT (NKJV): 1Ki 14:1 ¶ At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please arise, and disguise yourself, that they may not recognize you as the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh. Indeed, Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I would be king over this people.3 “Also take with you ten loaves, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him; he will tell you what will become of the child.”4 And Jeroboam’s wife did so; she arose and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were glazed by reason of his age.5 Now the LORD had said to Ahijah, “Here is the wife of Jeroboam, coming to ask you something about her son, for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall say to her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”6 And so it was, when Ahijah heard the sound of her footsteps as she came through the door, he said, “Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why do you pretend to be another person? For I have been sent to you with bad news.7 ¶ “Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Thus says the LORD God of Israel: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you ruler over My people Israel,8 “and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it …

The Contagion That Changed The World

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

The Contagion That Changed The WorldSpeaker: Aaron Cozort Powerpoint PDF of Slides TRANSCRIPT: I want to begin in our lesson this morning, focusing on the greatness of God we need to comprehend. And we need to understand that God is great. God has, from the beginning of time before Adam and Eve ever existed when this world was brought together in this universe was created by him. God has had a plan. He has had a plan for eternity. He has had a plan for our lives, for the church. For his son. Revelation, Chapter 13 in Verse eight tells us that the sacrifice of the lamb was determined before the foundation of the world. And so, in the midst of heightened concern worldwide pandemic, we need to remember that God is in control. He has always been in control. He was in control on December 30th and he is in control today. But at the same time, there’s some some wonderful lessons that we can glean from the events going on around us, and I will make it clear now that we’re not going to have week after week of Coronavirus sermons. But we’re going to take the opportunity today to focus our minds on some current issues. Some current matters so that we might focus our minds more directly on some eternal matters. But as we consider this situation that the world finds itself in, we consider the reality that this Novel Coronavirus, by the way, it’s called …

Okay. Okay. Yeah. How is everyone doing this evening? Good. Doing well, doing well. We are in first Kings chapter eight again this evening. We noticed at the beginning of this chapter on Sunday and I mentioned then that we weren’t going to get finished with it and we didn’t, we didn’t get any more clubs. Uh, but this, this is one of the, Um, one of those Key chapters in scripture that very much connects the law to the events of the latter portion of the old Testament, uh, the times of the Kings, the times of the divided nation of Israel, even the times of exile and captivity there. And we’ll see this as we go through. We’re going to not only look back at some of the specific references to the law that’s, that are here in chapter eight, but we’ll also look forward to a few of the occasions where this passage in view of the law is also, um, referred to or, or at least the concepts there are carried forward. So it’s a, it’s really a fundamental chapter, uh, in the old Testament and kind of one of those that you should just kind of keep track of in your mind that, that there’s a lot here that’s very important. Let’s begin with a word of prayer. Gracious father in heaven, We come before you, grateful for the day, for the blessings, for the health that we have to assemble together Or mindful of …

2019-11-10 – Sunday AM Sermon – Aaron Cozort – God Knows You – Your Actions and Speech

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

Automated Transcript Good morning. We’re going to try very hard this morning not to cough because if we start, we’re not going to stop most likely. Uh, I went to the doctor and the doctor said, you have what everyone else has and there’s nothing I can do for you here. Take these pills that may get better. So, uh, it’s, it’s not contagious, but the drainage is pretty bad. So, uh, if we, if we start coughing, uh, just, just be patient, eventually quit. Take your Bibles if you will, and open them to Psalm 139 we’re going to spend, we spent last Sunday morning in this passage. We’re going to spend some more time in it this morning and again, next week we’ve been noticing a series of faults from this passage. Oh, around this central idea. God knows you. God knows me. David writes this, Saul, were they distinct message to declare God, to declare his glory, to declare his power, his majesty, his knowledge, his mind, his omniscience, his omnipresence? Yes. All of those things. That’s not why David wrote them. So David took the pen of inspiration and he wrote this all not to declare just how great God is for God is great, but to declare that God in his greatness, in his omniscience, in his almighty nature, in his army, present nature, God cared about David as a singular individual on this earth and we are not to stay in back and look …

Automated Transcript San and his sons, three of them having died. The news will will come to David. David will have just returned from battle with the AMA kites and in and locate who comes from the camp of Soul. Comes with word that sells bed Had the same look. I just brought word that saw when Jonathan were dead. His fate probably would have turned out a little differently, but he didn’t. He brought word that Saul was dead, that Jonathan was dead and that solid died by his hands that he killed. So there is much discussion as to whether or not he did kill Saul. Because the end of First Samuel we read concerning Saul dying and we read nowhere about this am a kite being involved. But we do recognize this Able Kite comes because he wants something. He comes with this message and he also comes with two other things. He comes with the crown and he comes with the bracelets of soul. He comes with the the the adornments of the King, and he comes to bring these to David and he comes seeking something. Ultimately he will find his own death, and he will have his judgment pronounced by David in that he testified of here by himself that he had killed the Lord’s anointed. One commentator brought up the fact that going all the way back to Genesis, Chapter 10 God set forth a law that the run by whom blood was …

2019-10-06 – Sunday PM Sermon – Aaron Cozort – The King Eternal Immortal Invisible Part 2

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

First Timothy chapter one verse 17 in spite of the technical difficulty we may be having at the moment, Paul writes to Timothy and as he is writing to Timothy, he says this beginning in verse 12 and I think Christ Jesus, our Lord who has enabled me because he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry. Let’s, let’s begin by noticing that Paul’s discussion is writing to this young preacher, writing to this young man to tell him of the blessing that he’s received and the ministry that he’s received and that they, he’s received that by the grace of God because God allowed him to be there. He didn’t merit it. He didn’t earn it. It wasn’t by birth and it wasn’t by lineage. It wasn’t by tribe and it wasn’t by the the majesty or the glory or the the education that he had. It was because God chose him and because God permitted him to be placed in this position to have this ministry. He says, although verse 13 I was formally a blasphemer, a persecutor and insolent man, but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. Paul says, there was a time when I was persecuting the church. There was a time when I was opposing God, but I was ignorant about what I was doing. I did it in unbelief. Now, there’s an interesting point there. There. Here is an example of an individual who’s opposing God and is ignorant …

Take your Bibles if you will, and open them. The first Timothy chapter one. We will spend a little bit of our time in this passage this morning and then we will continue into a number of other passages throughout our study this morning and tonight we are going to be discussing this topic. The King eternal immortal, invisible. Paul writes to Timothy and as he addresses Timothy, most likely Timothy at this time is in Ephesus and he is, they’re separated from Paul. Paul is writing to him as a young preacher. He is encouraging him. He is exhorting him, he is continuing to instruct him and he reminds Timothy of his own past. He reminds Timothy of what he used to be Saul of Tarsus, the one who was going about seeking to destroy the church, seeking to demolish this sect of the Jews as he saw them. This group of people who had departed from Moses had the parted from the law, had departed from the tradition of the elders in his mind who had departed from the Lord and was doing what he thought was right Then as he was headed to Damascus, as he was journeying down the road to Damascus with papers, with the authority to put Christians in prison, in jail, and even bring them to death. A light shines down from heaven And he is confronted by someone who he knows is the Lord, But knows nothing beyond that<inaudible> And he is …

2019-09-29 – Sunday PM Sermon – Eric Richardson – How Do I Show I Believe In God

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

Good afternoon, several months back. I don’t know if everybody remembers. We did a lesson on why should I believe in God. We looked at Psalm 100 we saw that God, we for one he is our God. He is our creator and he is our shepherd. This lesson kind of follows up with that topic of why should I believe in God? We’re going to look at today. How do I show that I believe in God? The word belief means a persuasion of truth on the ground of evidence and Hebrews chapter 11 verse one the state’s faith is the substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things not seen. Faith is the foundation of hope and the proof of being convicted of things not seen. There are tons, tons of evidence in the Bible and outside of the Bible. There is a God. If you look at the world around us and creation, you look at, we were talking the other day about the eye, the everything that’s involved with the eye and the creation. I, it just didn’t happen. There had to be a designer. If you look at the our creation, you look at the stars in the sky, you know that there is a God. If you look at internal evidence, if you look at the Bible and you understand the prophecies, if you go to Daniel chapter two Juul chapter seven through 11 and all the prophecies of the, of the Kings …

Genesis Chapter 26 We have the only record. The only chapter I should say we have the Onley chapter dedicated to the promised son of Abraham. We’ve spent 13 chapters hearing God promised to Abraham, You’re going to have a son and we get one chapter dedicated to the sun. Because in those 13 chapters, the focus wasn’t the son. The focus was the promise, not just the promise of a son, but the promise of a seed. And ultimately, the seed that was promised is the seed that would bless all nations of the Earth. And ultimately, the seed promise wasn’t about Isaac. But Christ, it was about the savior. It was about the one who would come through the seed of Isaac through the seat of Jacob ultimately through the seed of Judah through the seat of David. But the seed was Christ. And as we get to Genesis Chapter 26 we see a glimpse into the life of the son of Abraham. Now, before we get into Chapter 26 go to Genesis Chapter 18 Genesis, Chapter 18 verse 10. And he said, I will certainly return to you according to the time of life and behold, Sara, your wife shall have a son. Sir was listening in the 10 door, which was behind him. Now. Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age, and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. Therefore, Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, …

It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9 “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, …

2019-06-16 – Sunday PM Sermon – Aaron Cozort – 7 Reasons Why I Should Be Righteous

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

There are many subjects in Scripture that are spoken about throughout Scripture that describe how we are to live that t just the ways that we are to live in the ways we aren’t toe live. But there’s a word in that is used throughout Scripture that I believe is probably one of the most recognizable terms. Four. Obedience to God. It is the term righteous. The term righteous has as its very root the word right. It is the lifestyle of one who lives in a way that is right, that is in accordance with God’s word, but in anything that we do in.

It is good to be home and it is good to see each and every one of you. We’re glad for your presence, especially for our visitors. We are glad that you are with us today and we hope you will come back and be with us every opportunity you have. It’s father’s day. So to all of the fathers in the audience this morning, happy father’s day, being a father, something I’ve been doing for about nine years now, Okay. And most days I feel as inadequate now as I felt nine years ago Because being a father is something that comes with a great and awesome responsibility. Individual once said, No, The least close to the quotation, a King realizing his incompetence can delegate or abdicate, but a father can not. We are to be those fathers. Alright? Who as the passage was just read, train our children, bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. And it’s not an easy task. It’s not a task for the faint of heart. It’s a task for those who are willing to endure through difficulties, heartache, struggles, good times and bad. It’s not a task to be taken lightly, but it is a task that is worth doing.<inaudible> And the individual once said, it’s much easier to become a father than to be one and such is certainly true. So I want to notice a number of examples in scripture this morning concerning fathers that we read …

and so in the garden of guests emanate three times, According to Matthew, 26 Jesus in Extreme Sorrow in Agony, prayed under the father. He prayed because that’s what the father wanted him to do. He often done prayed. The frequency of it, of course, needs to be like we do. We don’t need to be like that cowboy who had his prayer, that he’d pray the same prayer every night. And finally he got tired of saying it. He just wrote it down, and he would read it to the Lord every night. And then after a while, he got tired of reading it, so just acted upon the wall behind his bed, said Lord. Read it for yourself. Well, that’s about as much respect to some half for God and their father, who is in heaven. But, you know, if we had the proper attitude toward God, we’ll find time to pray, even if it was at a stop light. While we’re waiting for it to change the colors, pray without ceasing first. That’s one in 5 17 We always be ready to commune with our God. Jesus had time to be about the father’s business, he had time to be baptized. He had time to worship. You got time to pray. Are we crash like or to be likely? Then we just sing that or to be like the yes we did. You had time to teach others. Also, how many have we taught this year? How …

2019-06-09 – Sunday AM Sermon – Eric Richardson – The Character of a Christian

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

Good morning. It is good to see each one of you here this morning. Our topic this afternoon or this morning, not this afternoon. Get my time’s right. This morning is going to be the character of a Christian. When we think about the word character, we think about a person’s personality, nature, disposition or makeup. When we think about character, it’s like thinking about when we see something happen, somebody does and we’re in disbelief. We may say that is not in their character to do that, meaning it’s not in something normally that we would think that they would do. It’s not normal for them to do that. When a person, we ha we know that person’s character. We expect some characteristics from that person. I have some those characteristics. When we think about a Christian, there are things that are within the character of a person that they will do and they will not do. When I was preaching at Stanton, Tennessee is not very far from here. Several months ago when we were in the foyer of the building. There is a sheets on the wall that were painted by sister Elkins and one of them caught my eye. One of them was titled how to spot a Christian. The picture identified eight things that would help you spot a Christian. The first one was looking out for others, a friendly smile, helping hands, concerned and caring, willing to go the extra mile shares, good news, …

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

Tonight. I want to go to first Peter chapter one the opening of Peter’s letter. He makes some statements here that I want to look at. First Peter chapter one we’re going to read verse one and two says, Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ to the stranger scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, Bethania eat, elect according to the fore knowledge of God, the father, the word elect means chosen to select who is he talking about? Well, he’s talking about those strangers scattered abroad. Those through that are the Christians he’s writing to the Christians, us, those that are scattered abroad, they are the elect. How are they chosen? Says according to the fore knowledge of God, some would like us to think that we are selected before we were born and we have no choice, but that’s not the case. Go with me to Fijian chapter one. Ephesians chapter one verse four Says, according as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be Holy and without blame before him in love, we are chosen in him before the world foundation of the world. God had a plan before he even created us. What was that plan? Second Thessalonians, Second Thessalonians chapter two verse 13 but we are bound to give thanks always to God for you brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God half from the beginning chose you to salvation through sanctification of the spirit and belief of …

2019-05-09 – Wed PM Class – Aaron Cozort – Lesson 102 – John 17

In Bible Classes Videos by Aaron Cozort

John 17 is the conclusion of the time in the upper room. The events happening in the upper room are leading and pointing directly to the cross. Jesus knows what is to come and he said as much many times he knows where he will be before this night is finished. He’s preparing himself, he’s preparing the disciples. He’s telling them the things they need to know, not because they’re going to understand it, but because when it happens they’ll remember it and when it happens they’ll understand what he has been telling them and they’ll know that he is who he claims to be. Chapter 17 is one of the highlights in my opinion, of all of the gospels because it is one of the few examples that we have where Jesus prays and we have the prayer given, but more especially, it’s the only example where Jesus prays and we have this much of that prayer recorded and so it stands incredibly unique in scripture as this prayer, which is the entire chapter. This prayer Before he goes to the garden. At the end of the prayer, they will depart from the upper room and they will head to get Semini and there they will be until he is betrayed and taken before the high priest chapter 17 begins. Jesus spoke these words lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, This was a kind of a, a rabbit to chase for a moment. But Is there a …

2019-05-06 – Sunday AM Sermon – By His Blood

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

<inaudible> Good morning. Can we get everything together here in a moment? Take your Bibles if you will, and open them to Luke chapter 22 Luke chapter 22<inaudible> Blood of Christ topic often discussed, often preached on, often studied<inaudible> Maybe perhaps not ever capable of fully being appreciated.<inaudible> Well, this morning and this afternoon, I want us to examine this one idea by his blood<inaudible> In Luke chapter 22 beginning in verse 63 going down through verse 65 we read about Jesus being mopped. Verse 63 says, now the men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him and having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him saying, prophesied, who is the one who struck you and many other things. They blasphemously spoke against him. As Jesus is going through the trials leading up to his crucifixion, he will be beaten. He will be mocked. Mark 15 verse 15 says he would be scourged by the order of pilot. We’re told that that scourging was an examination<inaudible> And during these events, his blood would begin to be shed. Mark chapter 15 verse 16 down through verse 20 we read the crown of Thorns that was placed upon his head. Verse 16 begins with these words. Then the soldiers led him away into the hall called Praetorium and they called together the whole Garrison. They clothed him with purple. They twisted a crown of thorns and put it on his head and began to salute him. Hail …

2019-05-06 – Sunday AM Class – John 16

In Bible Classes Videos, General by Aaron Cozort

John 16 begins with these things. These things I have spoken to you. Of course, the precursor to that statement, the things he’s talking about goes back to chapter 15 goes back chapter 14 chapter 13 and we don’t have time to go back and revisit all of these things, but he says, these things, I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. What would cause the disciples to stumble? Spiritually speaking, we’re not talking about them, you know, stubbing their toe on a rock, catching their sandals on a, on a route in the garden. That’s not what we’re talking about. What would cause the disciples to stumble? Temptations of the world, Temptations of the world.<inaudible> False teachers, a lack of faith, persecution,<inaudible>, Political pressure and and and pressures from the Sanhedrin and the Jewish leadership. And you’re going to see just just a few chapters into the book of acts that happening, not, not long after the day of Pentecost there in the temple preaching, they get arrested, they get thrown in prison, they get put on a put before the Sanhedrin. They get told, do not speak anymore. In this man’s name<inaudible> But above everything else, They don’t expect them to die. Huh. All the way to the trial. Following him to the cross. I don’t expect them to die, Which is why on the morning that he has already told them he is going to rise again. Three days he will …

2019-05-01 – Wednesday PM Class – Aaron Cozort – Lesson 100 – John 15 – How To Be Hated By People Around You

In Bible Classes Videos by Aaron Cozort

John chapter 15 Has a precursor and it begins in chapter 14 verse 23 Jesus answered and said to him, Jesus is answering Judas, not Judas Iscariot, the other one. Judas said, Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us and not to the world? Because Jesus has told them, you will see me. Well, the world will not see me. So he says, how is this going to be possible? How is it that we’re going to see you and the world’s not going to see you? And Jesus answered and said to him, if anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my father will love him and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me does not keep my words and the word which you hear is not mine, but the father’s who sent me much of what Jesus is going to say in John chapter 15 leads out of this statement right here where Jesus says, if you love me, you will keep my words. If you step back a little further in John chapter 14 in John chapter 14 and in verse 15 he says, if you love me, keep my commandments and I will pray the father and he will give you another helper that he may abide with you for forever the spirit of truth. So Jesus is in the context of the upper room. He is there having observed …

2019-04-28 – Sunday PM Sermon – Three Important Questions – John 14

In Sermons by Aaron Cozort

Cause if you will and open them to John chapter 14 John chapter 14 will be the focus of our study this afternoon. I mentioned in class this morning that as we go through the next few chapters of our studies in the adult Bible class and in the other classes, John 14 being this morning, John 15 being Wednesday night, 16 next Sunday and 17 the next Wednesday night. As we go through these chapters, we’re going to have to move along in the class period to be able to cover the entire chapter because these, these chapters contain a great deal of information and a great deal of very significant information. Uh, as a result of that, there will be things that we would love to dwell on and spend some time discussing but simply do not have time to do so during the class period. And that is the case with the lesson this afternoon. I wanted to spend some time here in John chapter 14 with three important questions, three important questions that are found here in this text here in the beginning of John chapter 14 we read in verse five Thomas says to him, to Christ, Lord, we do not know where you are going and how can we know the way? In a very real sense, Thomas says, Lord, where are you going and how could we follow you? How can we go where you are going? Now those are two of the …
