When you were taught the gospel when you were taught what a person’s supposed to do to become a Christian, were you taught how a Christian lives? Were you taught that you couldn’t continue to live the way you always lived? There are some churches today that don’t teach that. They teach that you can supposedly “accept Christ” and then life just goes on.

No, Paul says in Ephesians, Chapter four, verse 20. But you have not so learned Christ… Did you know that becoming your Christian is a learning process?

You’re supposed to learn to pattern your life after His, and to live and think the way He lived and thought. Is the mind of Christ and the life of Christ exhibited in your life?

 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:
 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind

When a person becomes a Christian, when a person puts Christ on in baptism, is there something that’s supposed to change in their life, or can they just keep living the way they’ve always lived?

What changes in the life of a person who becomes a Christian? Paul says in Ephesians Chapter four, Verse 20. 

But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard him and have been taught by him as the truth is in Jesus that you pull it off concerning your former conduct the old man, which grows corrupt according to the deceitful us and be renewed In the spirit of your mind, 

Paul says, when you become a Christian, your mind is supposed to change because you’re supposed to learn Christ — we’ll talk about that more — but are you learning to live like Christ?

There’s an interesting point that Paul makes in Ephesians, Chapter four verses 17 and 18. He talks about the Gentiles who are futile in their mind. He says they’re they’re of no value. They’re pointless because of the way they’re living, because they’re living in a way that is ignorant of God, and they’re choosing a course in life based upon their ignorance of God.

So when you think about that, when he says that… In the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from a life of God because of the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of their heart… when you read those words, does it make you want to stop and know God better? Does it also explain to you the struggles and the difficulties you see in the world around you because people live ignorant of God?

What happens to someone who lives in ignorance of God, who continues down that path of ignorance, who chooses not to know God and obey him, and then continues that way for years?
Paul says that quite often they end up in this situation: Ephesians four, Verse 19 Who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanliness with greediness.
But then he says to the Christians in Ephesus… But you have not so learned Christ. If your ignorance of God is causing you to live in a way that’s unrighteous, ungodly, unchristian-like, begin by changing your knowledge of God.
Begin by going back to God’s word and searching for God’s instruction for your life.
